China is seeking to invade Senkaku Islands, inherent part of the territory of Japan.
Now it is common for Japanese fishermen to be chased after by China coast guard ships when they go fishing near Senkakus.

This photo is taken by Hitoshi Nakama, an assembly member from Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture, during fishing off the coast of Senkaku Islands this July.

Usually when a foreign warship violates another country’s territorial water, it would be fired warning shots and detained.
But Japanese government is hesitant to exercise the law to Chinese vessels.

Ishigaki city, as local municipality, decided to make its own move to protect Senkakus.
The city is going to ask Japanese government for landing permission on Senkaku to put the signposts.
Currently Senkaku Islands are owned by Japanese government since 2012 and nobody is allowed to land on the islands.

Last year the address names for Senkaku islands was changed from “Tonoshiro” to “Tonoshiro Senkaku”.
The purpose of this name change is to use the name “Senkaku” in administrative procedure and show Japan’s effective control over Senkaku Islands.
Local government is trying to do the best they can because Japanese government is weak-Kneed to China and nothing has done.

On Aug 23, Ishigaki city announced that the new signposts are ready and they will apply for landing permission to Japanese government next month.

石垣市、尖閣上陸申請へ

日本の固有の領土である尖閣諸島を中国が狙っています。
日本漁船が尖閣周辺に漁に出れば中国公船に追尾されることも当たり前になってしまいました。

写真は石垣市議会議員の仲間均氏が今年7月に漁業活動中に撮影した写真です。

通常は外国船が他の国の領海を侵犯した場合、警告射撃や拿捕されますが、日本政府は中国漁船に対して法の行使を行うことを躊躇しています。

地方自治体として石垣市は独自に行動を起こしています。
標柱を尖閣に設置するとして市は政府に上陸申請をする事にしています。
2012年から尖閣諸島は国有化され、誰も上陸ができなくなっています。

昨年石垣市は尖閣の字名を登野城から登野城尖閣に変更されました。
この字名の変更の目的は、行政手続きで“尖閣”の地名を使うことで尖閣の実効支配をアピールする事にあります。
政府が及び腰の為、地方自治体で出来る最大限の努力を行なっています。

8月23日石垣市は標柱の完成を発表し、来月上陸申請を進めるとしています。
